Effect of duration of incubation of various lactobacilli on the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus

Among the Lactobacillus sp. tested for their antibacterial activity (ABA), L. bulgaricus and L. acidophilus were found effective in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus at different periods of incubation. The ABA of lactobacilli can be improved by increasing the duration of incubation of lactobacilli cultures in skim milk for 72 h.
