A laboratory experiment was conducted on a calcareous Danube alluvial soil to study the oxidation of elemental sulfur in the soil under fertilized (NPK fertilizer) and unfertilized conditions. The sulfur doses were 0.1, 1.0, 2.5 and 5.0 g/pot. After 84 days of incubation, the pH (H2O), pH (KCl) and water-soluble sulfate ion concentration were measured.
