Effect of elevated CO2 concentration on growth and photosynthesis of Scenedesmus obliquus

S. obliquus was cultured in SE solution with 12 h of light at a light intensity of 50 micro mol/m2 per second, and subjected to 350 micro l/litre (control) and 700 micro l/litre of CO2, respectively. After culture for 23 days, the growth of S. obliquus treated with 700 micro l/litre of CO2 increased by 30% and photosynthetic rate increased by 12.7% as compared with the control.
