Effect of environmental changes on the prevalence of sandflies in Pune and its suburbs

Bionotes 4(2): 31-32

Data on the occurrence of sandflies in Pune, Maharashtra, India was collected during 1969-1971 and during 1999 and 2000 to determine changes in their prevalence. Sandflies were collected from houses, cattle sheds and tree holes. The number of hours spent in each location were recorded to determine the number of sandflies collected per hour. It was shown that sandfly prevalence drastically decreased during the last 30 years.
