Effect of environmental conditions on the body color of Galleria mellonella larvae

The larvae of Galleria mellonella have different body colours. These did not change when temperature, humidity, population density, light, and food were varied experimentally, except that white-yellow larvae developed a black internal coloration after eating honeycomb (possibly the colour of honeycomb inside the intestines).
