A field experiment was conducted in Bihar, India during October 1995-April 1996, and October 1996-April 1997. Environmental parameters had definite relations with the disease development in maize as the maximum initial disease incidence (100%) and significant disease severity (3.8) were recorded during February, when there were average atmospheric (above soil level) temperature of 18 degrees C, average relative humidity more than 70% and the average total rainfall of 16.2 mm.
