Effect of erythritol on intestinal microflora and morphology of internal organs in rats

Voprosy Pitaniya 71(3): 36-39

A total of 33 pubertal white rats were studied, 17 animals in experimental and 16 in control group. Experimental rats' rations were supplemented by 1 g/day of erythritol for 22 days. Caecum contents were microbiologically analysed. No effect on bifidobacteria population density was detected, and there was a slight decrease in the lactic acid bacteria population density.
