The effects of seed treatment with 0.0125, 0.250, and 0.500% ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) for 3 and 6 h on the M1 and M2 generations of carnation were studied. In the M1 generation, the germination percentage generally increased with the increase in EMS rate. Greater reduction in plant height at 40 days after sowing (DAS) was observed when EMS treatment was conducted for 6 h than for 3 h. At 110 DAS, however, EMS generally increased plant height.
