The immunosuppressive effect of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) on Eimeria necatrix immunization was studied. Significant (P<0.01) reduction in antibody levels to E. necatrix was observed by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in all the immunized and IBDV infected chickens (n=120). The lesion score to challenge infection was significantly (P<0.01) higher in groups that were inoculated with IBDV during day 1 and 7 of age, suggesting more pronounced immunosuppression.
