A field experiment was conducted at IARI Farm, New Delhi, India, to study the response of an efficient strain of Bradyrhizobium sp. (Vigna unguiculata) and consortium of three isolates of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria on five varieties of cowpea. Though Bradyrhizobium improved nodulation and nitrogen fixation, the consortium of PGPR was better than Bradyrhizobium alone. Dual inoculation with Bradyrhizobium and PGPR consortium further improved all the growth parameters.
