Effect of integrated nutrient management on root growth of wheat in a rice-wheat cropping system

The effect of an integrated nutrient management on wheat root growth under a rice-wheat cropping system was investigated during 1997/98 in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, India. In kharif rice, different combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers were applied, including 50, 75 and 100% of the recommended NPK rate (80:60:40 kg/ha) and 50 and 25% N applied through organic sources, i.e. green manure (Crotalaria juncea), farmyard manure (FYM) and rice straw.
