An experiment was conducted from 1995-96 to 1998-99 on sandy loam soils at Anand, Gujarat, India, to study the effect of nitrogen levels (0, 40, 60, and 80 kg/ha) and Azotobacter inoculation (no inoculation and inoculation) on seed production of oat (cv. JHO-822). The results showed that application of 40 kg N/ha recorded the highest seed yield (21.84 q/ha), whereas the higher level of 80 kg N/ha significantly reduced seed yield (17.56 q/ha).
