A study was conducted on an Inceptisol during 1997-98 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, to investigate the effect of three nitrogen management techniques (112.5, 150 and 187.5 kg N/ha given in 2, 3 and 4 splits) with and without 40 kg K2O/ha on the yield and quality of seed cane. The application of N in 3 splits (at planting, 60 and 90 days after planting (DAP)) produced the highest seed cane yield of 91.72 tonnes/ha at the 11-month of the crop age.
