A field experiment was conducted in Rajasthan, India during the rabi season of 1996-97 to study the response of chickpea RSG-44 to P fertilizer (0, 20, 40 and 60 P2O5/ha) and to Rhizobium and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) inoculation, either singly or in combination. While other P rates did not significantly improve crop yield and its components, the application of 40 kg P2O5 increased the number of pods per plant and seeds per pod, test weight, and seed and straw yields.
