Effect of plant density and planting geometry on growth and yield of grain amaranths

Karnataka Journal of Agricultural Sciences 14(1): 11-17

The effect of crop density and planting geometry on growth and yield of grain amaranths was determined in Karnataka, India, during the post-rainy seasons of 1990-92. Amaranthus cruentus Suvarna (R 104-1-1) and A. hypochondriacus Annapurna (IC 42258-1) were grown at seven crop densities (55 555, 74 074, 83 333, 111 111, 148 148, 166 666 or 222 222 plants/ha). Three planting geometries (60x15, 45x20 or 30x30 cm) were tried at 111 111 plants/ha.
