The effect of different plant growth regulators on seed yield and quality of sponge gourd (L. cylindrica Pusa Chikani) was determined in a field experiment in India during the summer season of 1994. Treatments were: control; water spray; triacontanol at 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 ppm; Cytozyme crop (plant growth regulator including bacterial enzymes and chelated trace elements) at 1000, 1500 and 2000 ppm; and Cycocel at 250, 500 and 750 ppm.
