Effect of salinity on the absorption of water by seeds of Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp and its relation with varietal tolerance

Effect of salinity on the absorption of water by seeds of Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp and its relation with varietal tolerance

Alimentaria 40(339): 99-102

The effect of different NaCl levels on Vigna unguiculata seed water uptake and its relationship with varietal tolerance was studied using 12 genotypes. There were significant differences between genotypes in water uptake at high salinity levels. Using a Cluster analysis based on Euclidean distance, the 12 genotypes were collected in five groups for salt tolerance, based on seed water uptake at high salt concentrations.
