Effect of season of calving and lactation order on the dry period, service period and intercalving period of swamp buffaloes of Assam

A total of 508 lactation records belonging to 181 swamp buffaloes of Assam were utilized in the present study. The overall least-squares means of dry period (DP), service period (SP) and intercalving period (ICP) were 225.46+or-2.65 days, 182.99+or-3.02 days and 507.54+or-3.00 days, respectively. Least-squares analysis of variance revealed that the season of calving had highly significant (P<0.01) effect on the length of DP and ICP.
