Effect of sodium chloride on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seed germination

Seeds of sunflower genotypes Oro9, Flamme and Albena were germinated in petri dishes lined with filter paper moistened with 0, 50, 75, 100, 125 or 175 mM NaCl. Seed germination decreased, whereas the mean time of seed germination (MTSG) increased with increasing NaCl concentrations. Significant differences in the effects of 50, 75 and 100 mM NaCl in the seed germination and MTSG of sunflower were not observed.
