In a field experiment in 1995-98, on a very fine montmorillonitic Typic Chromusterts soil in Maharashtra, India, sugarcane Co 8014 was given 0, 20, 40 or 60 kg S/ha as elemental sulfur, ammonium sulphate, gypsum and press mud (filtercake). The activities of sucrose synthase and sucrose-phosphate synthase was estimated from fourth leaf after 4, 8 and 12 months growth.
