A field experiment was conducted during kharif season (June-August) of 1997 in a clayey soil (Typic Chromustert) of Tamil Nadu, India, to study the effect of urea coated with different lignite derived humic substances (LDHS) on the yield of rice and transformation of applied N in soil.
