A field experiment was conducted in Andhra Pradesh, India during the rabi season of 1996-97 to study the performance of rice hybrids (APHR-2, DRRH-1, MGR-1, TNRH-16 and NLR-33358) at various N fertilizer rates (0, 60, 120 and 180 kg/ha). The highest number of tillers (464.10/m2) and panicles (457.60/m2) were produced by APHR-2, while the longest panicle (21.40 cm) was evident in DRRH-1.
