Effect of weed management, fertility and cultivars on weed growth and yield of rainfed lowland, submergence-prone rice

An investigation was carried out to study the effect of different rice cultivars, fertility and weed management on weed density during pre-flood environment and their subsequent effect on growth and yield in rainfed lowland, submergence-prone rice-ecosystem. Pre-emergence application of butachlor+2, 4-D (1.5+0.5 kg ha-1) followed by one hand weeding at 30 DAS and hand weeding twice (30 and 50 DAS) were most effective in minimizing weed growth and enhancing rice grain yield.
