The regional water balance calculated using rainfall data collected from 14 stations in southern Espirito Santo State, Brazil, was used for the prediction of groundnut productivity losses during two planting seasons, and for the determination of the best period for planting groundnut. The lowest and highest potential losses in productivity for the rainy season were 32.3 and 70.1%, respectively. The average productivity loss was 44.21%.
