A study was conducted in a clay soil with cover crops in Sao Paulo State, Brazil, to determine the reduction travel of 4 x 2 TDA tractors equipped with radial ply (front: 14.9 R 26; back : 620/75 R 30), cross ply (front: 14.9-26; back: 23.1-30) and low pressure (front: 500/60-26.5; back: 700/55-34) tyres. This was done under ballast conditions, with and without water in the tyres, in a four gear trial (M1, M2, M3 and M4). Results showed advantages for the tractor equipped with radial ply.
