Forest management regions in Slovenia in the function of implementing the principle of sustainability - their establishment and over 50 years of development

The article presents the establishment and over 50 years of development of forest management regions in Slovenia in the function of implementing the principle of sustainability in forest management. The situation in Slovene forests in 1945 was very bad. Over 80% of the forests were owned by farmers and were not included in any organized form of management. However, from 1945 on, a revolutionary change took place in the approach to forests.
