Gene action for some quantitative characters in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

The genetics of lint weight, seed index, staple length and seed yield of cotton were studied using 6 G. hirsutum genotypes (CRIS-15, TH-3/83, TH-28/83, CRIS-9, NIAB-78 and Rehmani) grown in Tando Jam, Pakistan during the kharif season of 1999/2000. Lint weight and seed yield were characterized by overdominance, whereas seed index and staple length were characterized by partial dominance of gene action.
