Genetic component analysis for growth in forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) Moench

The genetic components of variance were studied in a 6x6 diallel cross (excluding reciprocals) for growth rate in S. bicolor. Both additive (D) and dominance (H1) components were observed to be significant for growth rate with predominance of dominance component. The ratio of (H1/D)1/2 was observed to be more than unity, which confirmed the importance of dominance variance for this trait.
