Wood samples were collected from a 9-year-old Populus tomentosa triploid clone test site in Jinzhou City, Hubei, China to investigate the genetic variation of wood properties, including air-dried wood density and some mechanical properties including modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, compression strength and hardness. The results showed that significant or extremely significant difference in air-dried wood density and mechanical properties existed among the clones.
