Genetic fingerprinting of coffee hybrids: Ligenioides x Hibrido-de-Timor hybrids

Journal of Plantation Crops 30(1): 18-21

Ligenioides and Hibrido-de-Timor (HDT) are interspecific hybrids of diverse origin. Both resemble Coffea arabica in morphological features and produce fertile hybrids upon crossing with a variety of arabicas. Both also manifest a high level of resistance to rust disease. The results of genetic finger printing experiments generating RAPD markers of HDT, Ligenioides and their F1 hybrids are presented. A large genetic similarity was observed between HDT and Ligenioides and their F1 hybrids.
