Genetic selection studies at different rearing conditions of silkworm Bombyx mori L. in Egypt. VI. A study on the general combining ability of lines at improved environmental conditions

Genetic selection studies at different rearing conditions of silkworm Bombyx mori L. in Egypt. VI. A study on the general combining ability of lines at improved environmental conditions

Zhivotnov' dni Nauki 40(3/4): 135-13

A study to evaluate the general combining ability (GCA) of the best four inbred lines of nine breeds of B. mori with different geographical and genetic origin and reared under improved environmental conditions was conducted in Egypt during 1997-99. The estimate of GCA of lines within each breed in the initial step of selection assisted in tracing the genetic origin of the line and in choosing the best lines for continuation of the selection process.
