Genetic variability in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) for pod yield and its contributing traits

An experiment was conducted during the 1998/99 rabi season in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, India, on 24 faba beans cultivars to determine the genetic variability in the available germplasm. Data were recorded for pod yield, plant height, branches per plant, pods per node, pod length, and seeds per pod. The data were subjected to analysis of variance, estimation of variability parameters, broad sense heritability, and genetic advance.
