Genotypic, phenotypic and environmental correlations between some characters in upland coloured cotton

The knowledge of the genetic correlation between traits is important in a breeding program because they may affect selection methods. These correlations were investigated in a population of green cotton lines. Green lines obtained from white cotton CNPA 7H by backcross and the cultivar CNPA 7H were grown in an randomized block design with three replications, in two locations. The seed cotton yield was negatively correlated with fiber strength and positively correlated with micronaire index.
