A field experiment was conducted in Uttar Pradesh, India during 1997-2001 to study the effects of planting season and N rate on the performance of sugarcane cultivars CoS 91230, CoS 91269 and UP 39. The treatments consisted of autumn sole sugarcane, autumn sugarcane + Indian mustard, and spring sugarcane, and summer sugarcane under 112.5, 150.0 and 187.5 kg N/ha. CoS 91269 gave the maximum cane yield (75.61 t/ha) and cane-equivalent yield (95.93 t/ha).
