Growth, yield and economics of weed control as influenced by soil solarization in tomato

The efficiency of soil solarization using 0.05 or 1 mm transparent polyethylene sheets (TPS) in controlling the weeds infesting tomatoes NS 101, as well as its effects on the growth and yield of the crop were investigated in a field experiment conducted in Bangalore, Karnataka, India during the summer (March, April and May) of 1998. All the treatments resulted in better growth of the plants compared to the control.
