The histopathological changes in the skin of Lacerta agilis at the places of attachment of and feeding by Ixodes pacificus and I. ricinus nymphs were investigated. The mouthparts of the ticks were surrounded by fibrin cones and collagen capsules formed by the hosts. Inflammatory reactions (proliferative stage) were seen, forming collagen capsules. Neutrophils and eosinophils were the predominant inflammatory cells.
