Host range of Oriental yellow scale insect (Aonidiella orientalis Newstead) attacking neem as a background to its control

Entomology in the Nigerian economy Research focus in the 21st century: 23-31

Neem, Azadirachta indica A. Juss has been extensively planted in recent years as part of reafforestation programmes in the Sahel. High hopes have surrounded its use as a termite resistant timber, firewood, fodder and source of locally produced means of deterring or controlling crop pests by subsistence farmers. The recent phenomenon of neem decline in the Lake Chad Basin region, has been associated with heavy attack of scale insects, the most dominant being Aonidiella orientalis Newstead.
