Income and employment generation for small and marginal farmers through integrated farming systems

A pond-based integrated farming system research was undertaken at the research farm of the Orissa (India) University of Agriculture and Technology in Bhubaneshwar during 1992-94. The integrated farming system consisted of pisciculture, field and horticultural crop (agroforestry), poultry, mushroom, apiculture and biogas enterprises. Apiculture produced the highest returns (Rs 7.94 per rupee invested), followed by pisciculture (Rs. 5.46 per rupee invested).
