Seeds of groundnut cultivars TPT-1 and TPT-4 were germinated in boxes containing 20 ml of distilled water for 1 week and treated with polyethylene glycol (PEG; -1 MPa), calcium chloride (20 mM), or PEG (-1 MPa)+calcium chloride (20 mM) for the succeeding 7 days under 25+or-2 degrees C. Calmodulin and calcium contents decreased in cotyledons but increased in embryonic axis from day 1 to day 7. PEG-treated seedlings of TPT-1 showed the lowest calmodulin content.
