The effects of planting material (mother of finger rhizome), plant density (333 000 or 500 000/ha) and organic manure (24 or 32 t farmyard manure (FYM)/ha, 29 or 39 t composted coir pit/ha, 21 or 28 t vermicompost/ha, 50:50:50 kg NPK/ha and 50:50:50 kg NPK/ha + 20 t/FYM/ha) on the yield and yield components of the east Indian galangal (K. galanga) were determined in a field experiment conducted in Kerala, India during the wet seasons of 1995-96 and 1996-97.
