Inheritance of resistance to podfly in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.)

Inheritance of resistance to podfly in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.)

Journal of Genetics and Breeding 56(1): 85-88

Pigeonpea, C. cajan, is an important grain legume of Asia and Africa. The podfly, Melanagromyza obtusa is one of the most important insect pests of this crop. For investigating the inheritance of resistance, two resistant parents, viz. 'PDA 88-2E' and 'PDA 89-2E', and three susceptible parents, viz. 'Bahar', 'T-7' and 'KPBR 80-2-1', were used in experiments conducted during 1997/98, 1998/99 and 1999/2000, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
