Measurements on growth and development and fattening performances of Xiang pigs

Measurements on growth and development and fattening performances of Xiang pigs

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University Agricultural Science 20(3): 228-231

The performance of Xiang pigs in terms of growth, development, and finishing was studied at the breeding farm of the School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China. The body size was small, and the growth rate was low. At the age of 18 months, the body weights of boar and sow in the first generation were 37.33+or-1.55 and 43.13+or-6.13 kg, respectively. In the second generation, the body weight were 36.33+or-2.55 and 41.73+or-7.26 kg, respectively.
