The initiative of establishing dietetic recommendations based on traditional diet models is having greatest vigour with mediterranean diet. The purpose of this review article is to discuss the viability of transposing diet models as reference to nutritional prescriptions based on the mediterranean diet, both from the perspective of nutrition and of anthropology.
