Micropropagation of Brazilian ginseng (Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng.) Pedersen)

Micropropagation of Brazilian ginseng (Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng.) Pedersen)

Revista Brasileira de Plantas Medicinais 3(2): 11-18

ISSN/ISBN: 1516-0572

A suitable protocol for the micropropagation of P. glomerata was formulated. Nodal segments collected from ex vitro shoots produced aseptic plants after disinfection with HgCl2 at 0.1%. Explants from the tip, middle and basal portion of the leaves exhibited fungi contamination and HgCl2 sensitivity, while those from the internodal segments did not regenerate. Wholly developed plants were produced in MS medium within 35+or- days, without growth regulators.
