Nutritional disorders in corn salad (Valerianella locusta)

Trials with the corn salad varieties Valetin and Vit were carried out at Freising-Weihenstephan, Germany, from January to March 2002. Plants were grown in peat-based media. Different substrate pH values (4.5, 6 and 7) and different levels of nutrients (N, P, K, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) were tested. High Na, Cl and nitrate concentrations were also tested. Results show significantly higher growth depression with N, P and K deficiency in the faster growing variety Valetin.
