Occurrence and propagation of Bruguiera parviflora in the Sundarbans mangrove forest of Bangladesh

Occurrence and propagation of Bruguiera parviflora in the Sundarbans mangrove forest of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Journal of Forest Science 29(2): 139-140

A study was conducted to propagate Bruguiera parviflora in the Sundarbans mangrove forest of Bangladesh by raising seedlings from the fruits/seeds (propagules) collected from these trees during March-June 2000. Results showed that flowering and fruiting occurred during November-February while germination occurred 25 days after sowing. All seedlings survived except one, and satisfactory growth was also observed.
