Performance of new wheat varieties under irrigated very late sown condition in Central Brahmaputra Valley Zone of Assam

The performance of 9 wheat varieties (K 9527, K9533, HUW 489, HP 1811, HUW 234, HP 1633, HP 1744, NW 1014 and Sonalika) was evaluated at two dates of sowing (18 December and 3 January) under irrigated condition, in Nagaon, Assam, India, during the rabi season of 1997-98. Late sowing significantly reduced the earhead/m2. Grain yield decreased significantly in 3 January sowing compared to 18 December sowing.
