Pilot project: Combatting world hunger with sustainable land use

Pilot project: Combatting world hunger with sustainable land use

Entwicklung + Landlicher Raum 36(4): 27-29

Poverty, hunger and malnutrition are closely connected. Roughly 75% of the people living in absolute poverty live in rural areas in developing countries. The majority are women and children. By the year 2050, the demand for food will have roughly doubled, while the availability of agricultural land is limited and water is expected to become scarcer.
