Potyvirus Y necrotic strain (PVYN) in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) seed tuber from Canada

Potyvirus Y necrotic strain (PVYN) in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) seed tuber from Canada

Revista Mexicana de Fitopatologia 20(2): 206-209

Canada is the main supplier of potato seed tubers for Mexico. This commodity represents a high risk of introducing the necrotic strain of potato virus Y (PVYN), classified as A1 quarantine pathogen for Mexico. The specific and reliable detection of this virus strain requires serology and complimentary bioassays. In this work, such protocols are described on potato tubers introduced from Canada from 1997 to 1999.
