Protecting students against substance abuse behaviors - integrating personal and social skills into physical education



Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance 74(5): 45-48



This paper suggests some ways in which goals in physical education can be linked to the personal and social skills needed to prevent substance abuse. In particular, the paper shows how communication, decision-making, goal-setting, and stress-management skills among youths can be developed in the physical education setting.
